  3.         I have just been informed that someone else is circulating a
  4.     DOSNIX utility package  called DOSNIX01.ZIP.  He is providing
  5.     8 utilities up front and offering 78 more for $99.00.  Aside from
  6.     the fact that you can buy Coherent for $99.00 and get a full blown
  7.     UNIX system this is a blatant example of crippleware or even demo-
  8.     ware.  Personally I think he will go belly-up within six months.
  9.     In the meantime I just want everyone to know that I have no
  10.     affiliation with Software Power Tools and this spurious version
  11.     of DOSNIX.  All true versions of DOSNIX are distributed as
  12.     DSX???.ZIP or DOSNX???.ZIP. SDN distributions will be labeled
  13.     DSX???#1.SDN and DSX???#2.SDN.  Thank you for your continued
  14.     support of DOSNIX.

  23.     1.    The escape key can now be used to terminate searches 
  24.         when using FFIND and GET.
  25.  
  26.     2.    An enhanced version of EDC previously provided to registered
  27.         users is now standard.  Also the escape key can now be used to
  28.         interrupt scans.

  30.     3.    SGREP can now search for regular expressions using the -e
  31.         option.  Users who register will be sent a copy of VF which
  32.         can also handle regular expressions.

  38.     1.    I have spent the last few months working in a UNIX
  39.         environment where I am constantly using VI for reading
  40.         and editing files.  I discovered that switching back
  41.         and forth between VI and DOS style editors and file 
  42.         viewers can be very aggravating.  So I have taken the
  43.         large version of READ, modified it to accept VI commands,
  44.         and renamed it VF.  The big differences for READ users
  45.         are:

  47.           The string search commands have been modified for VI
  48.         compatibility.  About the only thing that works like it
  49.         used to is '\' for case insensitive searches.
  50.  
  51.           Because 'N' and 'n' are  used by VI to continue string
  52.         searches you now have to use ':n' and ':p' to move back
  53.         and forth between files.
  54.  
  55.           I have also added a few "modern" features.  Pressing
  56.         F5 will now allow you to read in a new file and pressing
  57.         F5 from the directory screen will allow you to change the
  58.         file mask.
  59.  
  60.           What used to be the '-f' option is now standard and
  61.         piped input will automatically be stored in a temporary
  62.         file.  This executes much faster than it used to.
  63.  
  64.           Video mode can be specified as an option if you know
  65.         the correct modes for your display adaptor.

  67.           I always thought line numbering would be a neat feature
  68.         so you can now toggle line numbers by pressing F6.  Unlike
  69.         VI the line numbers appear at the right hand side of the 
  70.         screen and you can use the Right Arrow key to shift the screen
  71.         and read any text in the last few columns.

  73.           Screen colors for VF can be set from the environment using
  74.         the environment variable VFCOLORS.  If VFCOLORS is not set
  75.         VF will use existing screen colors.

  78.     2.    I have added a "-b" option to DU to display disk usage in
  79.         bytes.
